Tips
Here
are Some Basic Travel Tips
Tip One: Read your travel
documents thoroughly. If your airline tickets are non-refundable,
ask about proceduresm just in case you have to make a change in
your travel plans. Always check if any additional costs will be
incurred. Make sure your passport is valid before traveling outside
your country. Apply for your passport and visa(s) as early as
possible. Obtaining a passport during peak travel seasons can
take several weeks.
Tip Two: Pack everything of value
in your carry-on luggage. This includes your travel documents,
important business papers, prescription medication, eye glasses
or contact lenses and other expensive items.
Tip
Three:
Experienced business travelers advise that you "take twice
as much money and half as many clothes as you think you'll need."
Most airlines allow"one piece of carry-on luggage",
so travel light. Carry enough money, just in case of an emergency.
Credit cards are widely accepted and ATM machines are normally
available, but you still should carry cash, especially if you're
traveling abroad. One good rule of thumb is to carry traveler's
cheques, instead of large amounts of cash.
Tip
Four:
Keep a duplicate copy of your passport and travelers checks
in a safe place. Obtaining replacements of these documents when
you travel abroad is much easier when you can provide copies of
originals.
Tip
Five:
Retain all of your receipts for purchases of goods or services
outside of the U.S. In many countries, a Value Added Tax is added
to the purchase price of everything you buy. VAT is reimbursable
when you return to the U.S. - this can be a substantial saving,
as VAT can often be as high as 25 or 30 percent.

Travel insurance can definitely help while traveling outside
your home country. If your luggage is lost or you need medical
care in a foreign country, travel insurance can be very important.
You may think nothing is going to happen, but it is better to
be prepared.
Arrival

If you are traveling through the airport, make sure to get
